Currently I am still on chapter 26 of The Last Song. Ronnie and Will are talking and Ronnie makes a point I really like. She says in some clubs, all you meet are snobs, and they’re so into who their family is or how much money their family makes. She stands their and thinks that’s great that others in your family have done something, but what have you done? (pg 242) I completely agree with Ronnie because in so many movies or TV shows that’s all you see is teenagers living the dream because their parents own some big company. I wonder when their parents give them everything if they learn how to do anything or do they just live off their parents their entire life?

When Will was little they were driving to a basketball tournament when his mom lost control because Will and Mikey (his brother) were fighting in the back seat. Mikey died on impact. Will always felt it was his fault because if he wasn’t fighting with him none of this would’ve ever happened. I feel really sorry for Will; think how horrible that would be watching your brother die and how you would feel after that happened. I know it must’ve been really hard. Will and his sister made bracelets with IMTF on them which meant in my thoughts forever. They always wore these bracelets and I thought that was really special. Then they always have a little way of remembering their brother:)

It’s crazy how parents are so different. The moms are usually stricter and get mad at everything you do. While the dads are more lenient and especially if you’re a girl they don’t like getting too involved. This idea really sticks out to me as I read The Last Song. Ronnie is accused for stealing something she never stole. Everything is pointing to Ronnie as if she did but she knows that it wasn’t her. When Ronnie tells her dad she didn’t he believed her, wasn’t upset and didn’t ground her. When her dad tells her mom, Ronnie knew her mom was blowing a gasket, screaming, and that she’d call her entire family telling them the latest Ronnie news. Ronnie hated when her mom did that, she always neglected the nuances, and in this case that she hadn’t done it! Its not like her mom would believe her though, if she was with her mom she would defiantly be grounded!

When Will and Ronnie arrive at his house to meet his parents I get this fantastic mental picture. The author described the house having sculptured rose gardens, marble status, a massive Georgian mansion supported by elegant columns, and exotic cars that were just hand waxed. (Page 225) Wow that is ridiculous. It reminds me of a castle of a king and Queen in movies. I think the yard intimidates Ronnie, now that she saw the house she feels that she should have dressed fancier, and not worn her casual clothes. Ronnie feels so out of place here, she said she might as well have landed on Mars. (Page 226)

I am really enjoying reading this novel, there is always something the author writes about that I wasn’t expecting and I love when he does that, it keeps me as a reader more engaged.

Currently I am still reading “The Last Song” by Nicholas Sparks. When I read this I think about it so many things, when I watched the movie I didn’t process things through that was just how it was. I enjoy reading the book so much more. Even though I watched the movie I still picture things, its hard not to when your reading sure watching the movie gives me ideas but in the end I still create my own scene in detail of how the author describes it. When I read this novel I almost forget that I have seen the movie and I am so curious what’s going to happen next! Books are sometimes different then the movies, so I am intrigued and want to find out if they end the same way!

Ronnie meets this girl named Blaze on the beach, she seemed like a smart girl but then she meets her boyfriend Marcus. He was bad news and Blaze was clearly better without him. He was constantly hitting on other girls and ignored Blaze all the time. I think Blaze is really desperate and scared of being alone. She seems like one of those girls that always have to have a boyfriend or be with a guy to make them selves feel better. What makes Blaze attracted to this rude self centered boy? I know that somewhere out there, there is a better guy for her but will she have the courage to stick up to him and say no to all the wrong things he is doing?

Have you ever had a secret that you couldn’t tell anyone? Will is in that situation, no matter what he does he can always feel the weight of the secret pressing down on him. He surface everything seems normal but deep down he is a mess. He wanted to tell the cops, but his friend said “you owe me” and Will felt pressured and couldn’t tell the cops. I think Will is in a very difficult situation, part of him wants to do the right thing the other half doesn’t want to hurt his best friend. I know I would have a hard time if I was in this situation. It is a hard decision, but you have to remind yourself of the good not just the bad that comes out of telling the cops. For instance the wrong guy wouldn’t get blamed and you wouldn’t have to feel guilty the rest of your life. I think Will is struggling right now, but he is a smart teenager so I am sure he’ll figure out what to do.

In our world today, everyone is judged by how they look, what they wear and how much money they have. While I read this novel that really sticks out to me. As soon as Ronnie gets to her dads house, goes out for a walk and meets some people she is judged. Marcus one of the guys there wondered if she came from money, she had a house on the beach, and apartment in New York so it just made sense that she did. He was positive though that it still wasn’t enough for her to fit in with the people around this area. But he liked that idea, he hated the way they flaunted their money, and didn’t like that they thought they were better then everyone. When I read that I thought about how true it is, people that have money like to flaunt it and rub it in your face about the new things they get. They constantly make you feel like a fool because you aren’t “like them” and don’t have they same things they have. I hate that about society these days, it seems like you are judged by the way you look not the way you truly are in the inside.

Currently I am just starting the novel The Last Song by Nicholas Sparks. I wanted to read the book first and go and see the movie, but people told me the movie was amazing and that it helped them visualize scenes in the novel, so I went and saw it. I am on page thirty five right now, and so far the movie and the book are word for word the same! I am sure that it will change as I keep reading because the books and the movies are never the same, the books are better and more in depth usually. Ronnie is a teenage girl that hates her parents. “She felt like a prisoner being transferred to rural penitentiary and couldn’t believe her mom was actually making her stay with her dad for the summer” (page 8) Ronnie feels her parents are stuck in a time warp where kids never grow up, and seeing her dad wasn’t on her to do list since he left them when she was young. I think Ronnie feels like a typical teenager, her parents don’t know anything and are stupid for making her do something she doesn’t want to do. I predict she will eventually realize that seeing her dad that summer is the best thing that has ever happened to her. Sure it seems ruff at first but that’s how it is in a lot of movies in books everything starts bad and slowly gets better when the character realizes it’s not all about them…

I am so curious to find out if the book will be like the movie or if it will be better or worse. Nicholas Sparks is a very good author, and I hope this book is as good as his others!
