I currently just finished reading the Likeness by Tana French. It was a amazing read! I loved this book a lot, it was suspenseful, it kept me interested and wondering throughout the entire novel. There was never a dual moment. I really enjoyed the subject Tana French wrote about, Someone getting killed, and trying to solve the mystery of how it happened that's the part that could happen in real life, the part i think is far fetched is that the undercover cop looked identical to the girl that got killed, was using the same name, and the same ID that SHE(Cassie) used to use when she went undercover for someone else... what a coincidence!
When I first started reading this novel I was sure that here roommates had nothing to do with the murder…little did I know they were the center of it! Where did i go wrong? Did I miss one of those keys paragraphs that tells you whats going to happen in the end and just did not catch on? I was so wrong when I predicted that Ned a cousin to Daniel had stabbed her. Ned seemed like the perfect person to do it, he was so jealous that Daniel got the million dollar house, and had a criminal background, so I put those facts together and predicted that Ned murdered Lexie.
It was difficult for me to relate to the characters because I have never gone through anything that happens, lying about who you are, killing your best friend, and not having any connections with your family. I could relate to Cassie when she goes into Whitethorn House not knowing what’s going to happen because I have done that (well not going into the house, but going somewhere I’m not familiar with) before and it’s very frightening and intimidating! So her doing that, plus pretending to be someone else must have been very difficult at some points.
I learned from this novel that we can not change our pasts, and how people treat us, but we can reflect on our pasts and live life to the fullest! :)
